VIU2: Communication & Supply

Gbit-Ethernet

This chapter provides information about the Ethernet interface and its chipset.

Overview

The Ethernet interface is integrated into the camera via an M12-X-Coded connector and allows the camera to be connected to the target network. The evoVIU2 features the integrated MaxLinear MXL86110I Ethernet transceiver. The IEEE 802.3az standard is supported. The camera can therefore communicate at transfer speeds of 10/100/1000 Mbps.

Key Features Ethernet

  • 1000BASE-T (IEEE 802.3), 100BASE-TX (IEEE 802.3), and 10BASE-Te (IEEE 802.3)

  • Ethernet twisted pair copper cable of category CAT5 or higher

  • Low EMI voltage mode line drivers with integrated termination resistors

  • Transformerless Ethernet for backplane applications

  • Auto-negotiation (ANEG) with extended Next Page support

  • Auto-MDIX and polarity correction

  • Auto-down speed (ADS)

  • Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) and power saving mode

  • Wake-on-LAN (WoL)

  • Support for 10k byte jumbo frames

  • RGMII interface

  • One MDIO slave interface supports IEEE 802.3

  • One MDIO interface clock of up to 12.5 MHzThree

  • MDIO message frame types

  • Two fully programmable LEDs

Ethernet is always installed in the evoVIU as standard.

Power-Over-Ethernet

Starting with the VIU2 model series, Power over Ethernet (PoE) is integrated into the camera as standard. The camera can be conveniently powered via the Ethernet port.

If an external supply voltage is also applied to the M12 5-pin connector, the camera automatically selects the appropriate power source. The switchover takes place automatically and does not require manual configuration.

In addition, an external sensor with up to 100 mA can be supplied via PoE using the M12 5-pin connector. This allows external trigger sensors, for example, to be controlled and operated directly.

The maximum power consumption of the PoE module via the network is 13 W.

It is recommended to use only VIUs with C-mount and S-mount but without light module.

Supply & Docker

This chapter provides information about the supply and allocation of the various Docker modules.

Overview

The camera is powered via the middle connector. The connector is an M12 industrial connector, whose pin assignment depends on the hardware variant.

The evoVIU hardware offers the option of using various docker interfaces. Docker refers to the interface to another interface, transmission protocol, or external circuitry. In this regard, evoVIU also offers customers the option of requesting their own docker in the portfolio area, for example, to respond to specific system configurations.

The camera may only be connected by a qualified electronics technician.

Docker-P: Power-Over-Ethernet

M12 – 5pol A-coded

Similar to the Docker-B, the Docker P allows two loads of different heights to be controlled via Digital-OUT 1/2. This means, for example, that two lights with up to 20W can be supplied and controlled via VISIONWEB and VISIONAPI. Digital result transmission can also be enabled with this.

Wi-Fi / SMA-Antenna

This chapter provides information about the Wi-Fi/SMA antenna and its chipset.

Overview

The SMA antenna is included as standard in the evoVIU packaging and can be easily screwed onto the SMA socket. It is recommended to tighten the antenna afterwards with an open-end wrench.

The antenna provides the camera with the following options:

Technical Data:

// WiFi

The evoVIU contains the LSR pre-certified high-performance Sterling-LWB5 dual band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi ® Smart Ready multi-standard module, which is based on the CYW43353 chipset from Cypress and supports the IEEE 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n standard.

Key Features Wi-Fi

  • IEEE 802 ac/a/b/g/n

  • SMA-Female Connector

  • Country certification: FCC (USA), IC (Canada), ETSI (Europe) Giteki (Japan) and RCM (AU/NZ)

  • Adjustable options in VISIONWEB

    • Disabled - Wifi interface is switched off

    • Access point - Wifi interface provides an access point - information in the OverVIU information

    • Auto - Scan of the surrounding network area with login

    • Static - Own login to the Wifi network with IP address setting
